There was a guy who inherited a parrot from his grandparents. He hated this parrot. It talked and talked and talked and would never shut up. But, the guy loved his grandparents, so he kept the parrot out of deference to them.

One day he was on an important phone call and the parrot was talking and talking and talking and would not shut up.

"Who ya on the phone to?"

"When ya gonna feed me some good stuff?"

"Why did you say that?"

"That was dumb."

"Polly wanna cracker."

The parrot would not shut up.

Out of desperation, the guy grabbed the parrot and set it in the freezer for the few minutes it would take to finish the phone call. Maybe that would cool the bird down.

Sure enough, when the guy finished the call and opened up the freezer, the parrot was quiet. He set the bird back down on its perch, and the bird said nothing. It just sat there, shuffling from side to side like a content, quiet parrot. This went on for hours.

Finally, the parrot said, "Can I just ask one question..."

The guy nodded.

Casually, the parrot asked, "What did the chicken do?"
